Our Mission:


To provide a safe, clean and sober environment for individuals seeking a lifestyle free from alcohol and drugs.

 

Our Purpose:

 

To offer a place in the community where individuals and their families can find support services and social activities in an environment that inspires continued sobriety.

History

Miracles, was established in 1992 by African Americans for people in recovery living in N/NE Portland creating a sanctuary where they could maintain their sobriety and  receive  support and encouragement.  Miracles received its’ 501 c (3) designation in 1996 along with the recognition and support ($30,000 annual grant) from Multnomah County.

 

Miracles has been governed by an all-volunteer team, offering a variety of clean and sober social activities and educational forums, and has provided community outreach to more than 15,000 individuals and families since inception. Miracles have also conducted thousands of hours of individual services, health presentations, and statewide summits. Miracles’ a cost effective organization operating on a shoe-sting budget while still providing critical life-changing services, along with being the home for 23-twelve-step meetings per week.    In 2006 when the Miracles Club was threatened by relocation or closure the City of Portland provided them with seed funding ($500,000.00) to build a permanent home for the Club, mixed use facility with 40 units of housing for individuals and families who are in recovery and a minimum of six with current employer.  The Board has hired an Executive Director, and Program Director, who submitted and received a State of Oregon approved Peer services curriculum,  and Vital Community as a partner in providing backend operations making our business run efficiently (HR, IT, Accounting, Bookkeeping, and Financial Services). Most importantly are our peers in need of transitional support to stabilizing recovery, Miracles submits assistance from Spirit Mountains funding and support of our goal to save lives one person at a time.

 

Miracles, has successfully solicited for funding a permanent home. Dan Saltzman, City Commissioner, spear headed our pursuit with a $500,000.00 grant which we used to purchase the land in 2007 where our new five story mixed use facility is now located at 4206 NE Martin Luther King Blvd in Portland Oregon. Miracles, and NWRECC of Idaho has LLC Partnership and a 40 unit mix-housing use facility development sponsored by US Bank, PDC, Guardian Management, and State of Oregon. That on July 15th Grand Opening ceremonies occurred. The value of Miracles has become recognized State wide, our organization is in continual growth, to ensure the founders security to investment in the mission of Miracles.

 

Miracles has added to its’ commitment of being a clean and sober, safe social environment; Recovery Support services for building individuals esteem, empowerment and sustaining recovery.
